Time is such a valuable factor for me right now. Not much time left until the exams, even less until the holidays. Cuthbertson house dinner is only days away, and the school athletics carnival begins tomorrow. Boy how time flies.

I started writing up a different blog post yesterday, wanting to get into detail about the International Dinner that occurred over the weekend. Half way through my post, time caught up to me, and I was restricted to finishing it.

Anyway, the International Dinner @ GGS is one of the school’s biggest functions. Organized by the International Student Committee, this year’s themed costume-parade was ‘Vintage’. Students, both International and their invited guests, came dressed up in the most amazing vintage clothing, ranging from the 18th century, up until mid 1900s.

In attempt to be ‘different’, I tried to go as a 1900s biker and Houngaz was a vintage china man.

7 most amazing student performances, in addition with 2 hours of dancing after, made the night worth reminiscing on about. Everybody enjoyed the evening, including all the teachers and staff who joined us. Candle lights, vintage records and jazz music made the night complete.

The International Dinner ended successfully, leaving a smile on everyone’s faces.

The Chinese oral examinations were held yesterday. I think I did pretty well in that, considering I have the hardest time trying to speak Chinese. All in all, I’m glad it’s over.

Today, something shocking got to me. I took a look at the front page of today’s paper and saw this.

Steve Irwin, a.k.a. The Crocodile Hunter was killed in a tragic freak death accident off the coast of Queensland yesterday. Even if you are not one who watches his shows, I am sure you have at least heard of him. “Crikey!” (meaning Gee Whiz!) As he used to say, is his ever so infamous quote used in all his shows.

Irwin, 44, died after the stingray barb punctured his chest while snorkelling off Port Douglas, in far north Queensland, yesterday. A cameraman captured the incident during filming for Irwin’s new project with daughter Bindi, 8, that was to debut in the United States next year. Extracted from The Herald Sun

May his soul rest in peace.

In loving memory…
